June 22nd 2021, St  Maarten/Prague; The Sapphire Pegasus Awards for outstanding performances in the field of Business Aviation in the Caribbean were presented at the Caribbean Aviation Meetup, June 15, in Caribbean. The elite Award winners were announced and honored during an Award Dinner on the Tuesday night of the conference.  The award ceremony was moderated by Seth Miller an independent travel journalist from New York. It was the fourth year that Sapphire Pegasus Awards were presented in the Western Hemisphere.

The Sapphire Pegasus Award is an opportunity not only to honor, but also to thank the winners for their excellent performance. Receiving a Sapphire Pegasus Award is a great achievement,” says Cdr. Bud Slabbaert, Chairman of the Board of Advisors of the Award organization for the Caribbean. “Our panel of judges takes its mandate very serious. We aim to remove any subjectivity about performance and replace it with a thorough and objective review and validation.”

For the great achievement and recognition of the highest level of excellence, the Awards went to the following award winners:

  • Emma Watson, St.Martin – Outstanding Rising Star
  • Andy Nixon, Dexter, MI  – Outstanding Rising Star
  • Curt Epstein, New York, NY – Outstanding JournalismKristina Tervo
  • Kristina Tervo, Nice, France – Outstanding Passion for Aviation
  • Leif Ytterstad, Tt.Lauderdale/Paris –  Outstanding Trainer

A special award recognition for Passion in Aviation went to professional pilot and trainer Kristina Tervo, who is co-founder of Women in Aviation Middle East Chapter and founder of Wolston Sky. “I was truly honoured to receive the prestigious Sapphire Pegasus Award for Outstanding Passion for Aviation 2021 from the International Business Aviation Awards during the conference. I am genuinely taken by this and cannot thank you enough”, said Kristina Tervo.
